IIS is a web server developed by Microsoft. It’s the default web server software that comes with Windows NT operating systems. Internet Information Services (IIS) server supports HTTP, HTTPS, FTP, FTPS, NNTP and SMTP network protocols and technologies. This web server has been integrated with all Microsoft’s network operating systems but it is turned off by default when the Windows OS is installed. IIS server is managed through IIS Manager, which is accessible through Microsoft Management Console.
